"housing should never be more than 20-30% of your monthly income" -That's a pretty opinionated statement. Certainly there is a wealth imbalance, however the thinking above it a dangerous entitlement standard to take. Culturally we have cultivated an expectation of a certain size of house we "should" be able to afford, and to be able to live there on our own, or with one partner, and/or a kid or two. That's a lovely picture, and for those that want that, I hope they can afford it, but we should get away from feeling entitled to it.
