Sarah Palin documentary

One reviewer commented:

"This Sarah Palin hosanna is done in by the simple fact that its director needs to go back to film school." Robert Levin of the Atlantic.

Poor filmmaking and content aside, I'm wondering what rocket scientist decided it'd be smart to open this the same weekend as the final Harry Potter movie.

In before someone complains about critics and including the term 'The liberal media'

Maybe they were hoping not too many people would see it.

If the title is Undefeated, then why isn't Sarah Palin Vice President?

At 10 screens, it wasn't meant to be a major splash.

I wonder how many of the reviews are actually reviewing the movie on it's merits as a film, or just reviewing it negatively because of their dislike of Palin.

Apparently quitting your job halfway through your term doesn't count as "defeat."

You should watch and judge for yourself.

[identity profile] 404.livejournal.com 2011-07-19 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That's one review out of how many?

[identity profile] 404.livejournal.com 2011-07-19 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll pass. I seriously more important things to do than watch that.

I wonder how many reviews of Michael Moore's or Al Gore's movies are actually reviewing them on their merits as films, or just reviewing them negatively because of their dislike of Moore and Gore.

She's lucky zero is the floor on that site, or any site for that matter.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1961604/ratings

shows the exact same distribution as

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0361596/ratings

Well, the same distribution as when it came out anyway. You have to wait a few years for politics to get out of this sort of art

LJ doesn't require me giving it two hours of uninterrupted time, nor does it cost me anything to do so.

Maybe it does for you.

11.

And that's not even the only election she lost. She ran in, and lost, the Republican primary for Lt. Gov of Alaska in 2002.

I wonder how many of the people who went to see the movie did it because of its merits as a film, or just went because of their worship of Palin.

[identity profile] udoswald.livejournal.com 2011-07-20 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I doubt the director really feels the need to improve his mastery of the craft. He doesn't need to. He has a ready made audience who will watch the movie (probably multiple times) regardless of whether it's a quality movie or a stupid piece of crap. It's like the Twilight movies, it's critic-proof. The people who will go see it will see it because they want to support Palin and stick it to the "lamestream media", they don't care how good the movie is.

Quite a few, I'd bet

[identity profile] udoswald.livejournal.com 2011-07-20 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
Your cryptic answer confuses and angers me.

[identity profile] 404.livejournal.com 2011-07-20 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
About as many who go see a movie because their favorite actor is in it I'd wager.
