Poe's Law is EVERYWHERE!

Like bobbleheads, Seattle sports fans? Try Free Compost Night!

Not just any compost, mind you, but small bags of compost made from food waste, packaging material, drink cups, utensils and other stuff discarded during past Mariners games and transformed into a garden-friendly mix by Cedar Grove Composting.

LOL Seattle!

Seriously?

COMPOSTING offends your sensibilities?

It's a PRODUCT. They are offering people a free sample.

Big frickin' deal.

[identity profile] malasadas.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Feces isn't compost.

You don't know the difference?

[identity profile] pacotelic.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
He doesn't know the difference. For him, Food comes from McDonalds, where they make it. Now we see the shallow footing of libertarian logic.

this is because you live in Italy, where you don't have America's Greatest Pastime.

I bet they FORCED all those fans to take home the compost, too...

[identity profile] lafinjack.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
We eat real food here...

And how do you think they made it?

That's right. With compost.

I forgot your prime minister probably puts out enough monkeyspunk to feed the multitude.

[identity profile] pacotelic.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, yeah. I'm not mocking your knowledge of compost, sport. I'm mocking that you find giving it away to be ludicrous.

[identity profile] pacotelic.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Starbucks already offers much better compost for the taking. Like I said before, this can't be very good composts, but it would still work for some things.

Compost, sufficiently digested, doesn't have much of a smell. The larger the pool of waste and more time you give it, the better it gets.

You're still 3 steps behind, aincha?

[identity profile] not-hothead-yet.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
so its a stupid idea TO YOU, so what? Clearly it offends you that some people are doing something they think is a good idea and you disagree. But seeing as there's nothing mandatory about it, it doesn't involve money and has nothing to do with evil government, why in HELL do you have to be nasty about it? This, I do not get.

As pointed out, compost is a product. Some people do, in fact, pay for fecal matter for gardening purposes and should you pull your "durp durp that's stoopid, I'll sell you my poop!" blatherings they'd laugh in your face. Because clearly you don't know what in blazes you are talking about. Your shit is not comparable to grass-fed cow or sheep shit. Yeah, I know, that sounds just demeaning as hell, don't it? get over it.

this and it's also important to know that proper fertilizer and night soil are not the same thing for some pretty significant reasons...

[identity profile] dwer.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
it's funny, because, dood. Why do you care?

[identity profile] not-hothead-yet.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
more importantly, why the overusage of the word "fuck"?

And when composted it is not raw manure anymore. And human waste is not generally used. And this stuff is not made from that anyway.

You are just annoyed that people aren't laughing at hippies with you, and you are being a prat. This is a Seattle local business offering people free samples of their product. How much more market based environmentalism could you want?

[identity profile] iluvhistory.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Only "leftards" garden? If not, are you saying that conservatives don't understand how soil quality greatly effects the yield, appearance, and overall health of plants?

Compost & soil are just facts of gardening. Protip: If you even have a store bought flower pot or grass on a yard, you have some percentage of compost on your property right now. GASP. SHOCK. HORROR!

[identity profile] rimpala.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm puzzled by this too, I thought that a libertarian society would want to know how to farm. If you want everyone to fend for themselves for food and other things but aren't afraid of getting a little dirty then I just don't know what to say...

[identity profile] iluvhistory.livejournal.com 2011-03-22 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess only foraging in the wild is the libertarian way, or conservatives are anti-vegetation as a whole. I've always thought libertarianism was childish, but if this boils down to "poop is gross, veggies are gross, ewwww dirt!", then it's even worse than I thought.

Sad to think they'd be the first to die off in their own utopia.

I blame the internet, it's made us soft and overconfident at the same time.

anyone forcing you to bring it home?

Are you obliged to take and keep something given to you for free?

so what's your problem?
