Being a cosigner is a terrible risk that nobody should ever have to take. All it would take is some freak accident or lawsuit. I wouldn't make anyone risk bankruptcy on my behalf just for a little credit.

Emotional? I don't see any such connotation in my comment. This is purely logical. Not understanding cosigning is the same sort of ignorance that resulted in a large part of the economic issues we face today. I understand that you have no basis for my intelligence, but don't assume that I don't known the risks involved.

Of course bankruptcy is only a concern for large dollar amounts. But it is not uncommon for people with credit issues to get far more debt that they could ever reasonably expect to pay off.

I would hope that anyone who knows me would not expect me to risk my home and all my possessions just to help them get credit. It is far easier to do it the slower method via cards & such.
