The beauty of it is, SOMETHING will change, and the Republicans as a party won't really be able to take any credit for it (well unless at the last minute they change their minds like they did for Medicare in the 1960s and didn't want to be seen on the wrong side of the fence).
Speaking of pandering: House Republicans ended up voting against nearly 500 billion worth of tax breaks in Feb of this year with a stimulus package. Talented bunch.
