LOL x100,000 @ the suggestion liberals don't believe in personal sacrifice. Plus points for suggestion liberals don't ever drive crappy cars. Have not ever seen a Hummer or an Escalade or a Navigator with a liberal in it. Ever. You do not live in the world the rest of us do. Get a life. Wake up. Stop listening to Sean Hannity.
I remember a British MP suggesting that every parent could send their child to private school if they just made sacrifices like not buying a new car.
It's impressive how much privilege it must take to make people not realise that not everyone can afford a new or even a good car even if they wanted to
You can't sacrifice what you don't have.
My parents made a lot of sacrifices for me (seriously, I have great parents) but there was no way I was ever going to private school.
Nor did I say that you did (although your blog entry makes it pretty clear you believe the "leftist" public school system is in the indoctrination business - an absolute absurdity in its own right).
But let's cut through the semantic smokescreen here for just a moment, if we might: If, in fact, you don't believe that Obama's address to schoolchildren constitutes indoctrination (pending a review of the actual text on Monday, of course), what, exactly, is your objection to the POTUS speaking directly to young people, urging them to stay in school and make the most out the opportunity to get an education? After all, is he not merely following in the footsteps of Teddy Roosevelt, Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush? Given the opportunity to speak to the nation's kids yourself, would your message be any different?
The alternative to public schools being what, exactly? Strictly home-schooling for parents who can't afford to send their kids to a private school? And what if those parents have to work every day to keep the mortgage paid and put food on the table? Who should pick up the ball from there?
Please share your vision for educating the children of this country. This I've got to hear.
